Daytripper #2 (DC Comics/Vertigo)
By Fabio Moon & Gabriel Ba

Last month, we watched the 32-year-old Bras de Oliva Domingos murdered on his birthday, just for the mistake of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This issue steps back in time, to when Bras was 21 and on vacation in San Salvador. He does all the things you do on a vacation — shop, swim, meet a beautiful girl and have bizarre dreams. When the first issue of this series was over, I didn’t really have any idea what the actual premise of this title was. When I started issue two, I thought we were looking at the comic book equivalent of Harold Pinter‘s play, Betrayal. Then I got to the end and I realized, again, I haven’t got the foggiest idea what’s going on in this comic book. Here’s the good news, though — despite that, I really want to know what’s going on here, where the title is going. Moon seems to have tapped into something here, something that gets its hooks into you and pulls you along. This comic fascinates me. I just hope that fascination is justified as the title moves along.
